Black Tie Christmas Party

Black Tie Christmas Party

A Black Tie Christmas party is a bit more formal than your average celebration.  If you enjoy getting all dressed up like the bell of the ball, this theme idea is perfect for you.

The best way to bring this theme to life is to use lots of sparkly decorations, decked with the traditional red and green Christmas colors, accented with silver and/or gold.

Invitations

There are plenty of things you can do with your invitations.

This example uses a simple silver and gold Christmas tree with elegant gold writing.

Using images always adds a little flare to an invite.  Instead of using a tree, you can play around with images of shiny ornaments, a garland border, or a shimmering snowflake.

Since this will be a Black Tie Christmas Party, be sure to let your guests know that the dress code will be formal wear.

Christmas Decorations

Decorate your party venue with lots of elegant Christmas decorations.

Use red and gold bows, pre-lit green garlands, and lots of shiny ornaments.

You can also make paper ornaments topped with shiny gold glitter and hang them from the ceiling.

As with any theme, spruce up the outside of your venue too.   Add lights to your front door, any trees or bushes, or some 3D pre-lit decorations to sit in the yard.

Christmas Tree Ideas for Your Black Tie Christmas Party

Christmas tree

For your Christmas tree, use the same kinds of decorations that you use for the rest of the room.

You can use multicolored lights, but white lights may fit better with a Black Tie Christmas party theme.

Shiny gold bows, shimmery snowflakes, and gold garlands are just a few items that you can use for the tree.  Remember to use your imagination and be creative.

Since this is a black tie affair, consider a white tree decked with black bow ties and red flowers.

Christmas Party Table Decorations

An elegant red and gold tablecloth will go great with the ambiance of the room.  Tie red, green and gold bows to the ends of your serving utensils.  Instead of disposable tableware, consider Christmas china and silver or gold eating utensils.

As with any theme, this would be a great party idea to give out party favors to your guests.  Here are a few ideas

  • Gold ornaments in a clear plastic box, tied with a gold bow.
  • Christmas candles in a crystal candle holder.
  • Tuxedo and evening gown designed chocolate covered strawberries.
